The WiM Education Foundation Virtual Learning Series are monthly webinars that enable participants to learn about a variety of industry-related topics from the convenience of their home or office. Held the second Tuesday of each month, each webinar includes action-oriented and solution-driven objectives that will help participants succeed in the manufacturing sector. Topics are specific to women working in manufacturing and are hosted by carefully-selected knowledge experts. All webinars are recorded and archived in the Virtual Learning Library where they are available to WiM members at any time.

Dealing with Difficult People

Conflict happens. Sometimes people are difficult. However, we can take steps to minimize the frequency as well as the impact. In this program we explore why people can be challenging, what we can do to improve the situation, and communication strategies that work. We’ll discuss everything from conflict avoidance to the importance of trust, as well as the value of empathy and clarity. You’ll leave with actionable steps and language you can use the next time you find yourself confronted with a difficult situation.

Laura Wilde is the Vice President, Quality for Ultra Maritime. She joined the company in October 2023 where she is responsible for the quality function globally, overseeing the creation and enhancement of best-in-class processes across Quality Management and Compliance.
Laura brings a wealth of experience and expertise in the field of Quality and Compliance. Throughout her career, she served as the Senior Director of Quality & Mission Assurance for Aerojet Rocketdyn (an L3Harris Technologies Company), and as the Director of Quality for STANLEY Engineered Fastening. Laura’s career spans several other key quality management positions, which have collectively contributed to her extensive knowledge and skills in the industry.
Laura is an active member of Women in Manufacturing Education Foundation where she serves on the Board of Directors as Secretary.
She has two adult daughters and a husband of 24 years. Laura is an avid reader and world traveler.
